Chen Ronghui's works exhibited in the group exhibition "Runaway World"

From June 2 to August 2, 2020, the Gaotai Gallery presents the group exhibition "Breaking the World 2020", including 4 works from artist Chen Ronghui, represented by Three Shadows +3 Gallery.

Runaway World 2020 presents work by ten artists of Chinese descent whose analytical visualizations aim to use the juxtaposition of multicultural symbols to dismantle space and time, to present a sense of belonging, and the collision of natural forces. The exhibition is curated by independent curator Han Hongzheng. The artists include Xu Guanyu, Ma Hailun, Tan Siyuan, Wang Tianhui, Liao Yijun, Chen Ronghui, Liu Qianyi, Xu Boyi, Dai Furen, and Zhi Ying.

The exhibition includes four works from Chen Ronghui's "Modern Shanghai & Runaway world". This series is a highway that crosses the outskirts of China, integrating amusement park's landscapes with environmental portraits. In the past 40 years, China has experienced a rapid modernization process, which influenced Chen Ronghui inevitably. Like other young people, Chen Ronghui left his hometown Lishui in Zhejiang province for opportunities in big cities, which gave him a sense of uncertainty: "I feel that I neither belong to the city nor the countryside. I cannot find affiliations. "
